The American guitarist, Cary Savage, is Bishop Simard's nephew. He has studied guitar for the past 28 years.
He began his musical studies at an early age studying with renown jazz guitarists Steve Greene and Frank Rumoro. His interest in classical guitar came when he discovered the playing of Christopher Parkening and Andrés Segovia. In August 2000, he completed his Bachelor of Music at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he studied under the direction of Nicholas Goluses. Mr. Savage then moved to Montreal, Canada, in 2002 where he completed the degrees Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Montreal under the direction of Peter McCutcheon.
